The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Lagos State in the 2023 general election, Abdulazeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has announced his resignation from the party.
Jandor made the announcement during a press briefing held at Liberty Place, Ikeja, the Lagos State capital, on Monday, where he was accompanied by a large group of supporters.
Jandor alleged anti-party activities by some party leaders, including Chief Olabode George, a former PDP Deputy National Chairman.
“I am here before you today with a heavy heart but a clear conscience. We have dedicated ourselves to the ideals of democracy, good governance, and the pursuit of a better Lagos.
“However, it has become evident that the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, both at the national and state levels, has failed to uphold these principles. The persistent anti-party activities, internal sabotage, and lack of discipline have led me and my supporters to leave,” Jandor said.
He also alleged that some leaders worked actively against the PDP in the 2023 elections, resulting in a poor electoral outing for the party.
