A faction of the Labour Party has given Peter Obi 48 hours to resign over his involvement in a new opposition coalition unveiled on Wednesday in Abuja.
Obi appeared at the event alongside top politicians, including former ministers Rotimi Amaechi and Abubakar Malami, both of whom have resigned from the APC.
But the Julius Abure-led Labour faction says Obi hasn’t quit the party and is now working behind the scenes to pull members into the coalition.
Spokesman Obiora Ifoh said the party would not tolerate “dual loyalty” and warned that any member aligning with the new group would be asked to step down.
He also accused the coalition of trying to recycle old politicians, saying, “This is not the future young Nigerians voted for.”
