A Magistrates’ Court in Kano has remanded a young man, Auwal Adam, in a correctional facility over alleged involvement in the killing of his friend following a dispute over the cover of a tricycle tyre
The court, presided over by Magistrate Sakina Aminu Yusuf, ordered Adam’s remand after he was arraigned by the police on charges of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide
When the charges were read to him, the defendant pleaded not guilty.
Prosecuting counsel, Barrister A.I. Buhari, urged the court to adjourn the case to enable the prosecution obtain legal advice from the government.
The magistrate granted the request and adjourned the case until September 8, 2026, for continuation.
The police alleged that Adam and some of his friends, who are still at large, were involved in the killing of their friend, Aliyu Abubakar Badawa.
According to the allegation, the incident followed a dispute over a well cover belonging to a tricycle, popularly known as Adaidaita Sahu.
