Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, a federal lawmaker from Kano, has dismissed his suspension from the NNPP, calling it baseless and a violation of a court ruling.
Reacting to the announcement by the Kano NNPP chairman, Rurum insisted he belongs to a different faction of the party, which retains the fruit-and-basket logo, while the faction that suspended him follows a different leadership.
He linked the suspension to his attendance at Senator Kawu Sumaila’s daughter’s wedding, which was attended by APC figures. Rurum argued that NNPP’s national leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, was invited but chose not to attend.
Declaring the suspension irrelevant, he said both factions operate independently, further exposing the deepening divide within the party.
