The Kano State Censorship Board has banned all Kauyawa Day (Villagers Day) events and suspended operations of event centres across the state.

Executive Secretary Abba El-Mustapha announced the decision Saturday, citing the need to uphold public morality and order. He said the move follows a new amendment to the law signed by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, empowering the board to regulate DJs, event planners, and venues.

El-Mustapha warned that organising any Kauyawa Day gathering now violates state law and urged community leaders and security groups to support enforcement.
