KAEDCO Dismisses 450 Workers Amid Strike

Residents in Kaduna and surrounding areas remain without power as KAEDCO workers strike over unpaid pensions and poor working conditions.

The protest, led by the National Union of Electricity Employees, claims that over 900 workers have been affected, though KAEDCO says only 450 employees received “services no longer required” notices.

Kaduna NUEE Chairman, Comrade Sheyin Nuhu Wakili, criticized KAEDCO for reneging on a promise to retract the termination letters during a meeting with the Department of State Services.

Meanwhile, the Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies warned that restored service is unlikely if dismissed workers remain out of the system. KAEDCO’s management insists that a comprehensive transformation is underway to ensure long-term sustainability and fairness.
