The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 20 suspected kidnappers and 320 phone snatchers as part of a major crackdown on crime. According to Commissioner Rabiu Muhammad, the operation—conducted between December 31, 2024, and February 11, 2025—resulted in the arrest of over 580 suspects for various crimes, including armed robbery, car theft, and motorcycle snatching.
Muhammad added that more than 30 kidnapped victims have been rescued and reunited with their families. He credited the success of the operation to intelligence-led efforts, strong collaboration with other security agencies, and public cooperation.
“Since December 31, 2024, we’ve arrested over 580 individuals and recovered stolen items, such as 34 motorcycles, 10 vehicles, a submachine gun, and four AK-47 rifles,” he said. Additional seized items included two pistols, 28 rounds of live ammunition with five magazines, 52 rustled cows, four sledgehammers, and 20 bags of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
The commissioner warned that Kaduna is no longer a safe haven for criminals and vowed to continue strengthening intelligence networks and partnerships to dismantle criminal syndicates in the state.
