The Kaduna State Government has rescued 13 children allegedly trafficked to the Southeast by a syndicate.
Commissioner for Human Services, Hajiya Rabi Salisu, said the children were first moved to Abuja, then taken to Enugu, where their names and identities were changed.
“One of the children was abducted at seven days old and is now seven years old,” she said. “They barely remember their families.”
She revealed that the suspects used an orphanage in Abuja as cover to sell the children. Seven were recovered on April 9, and others earlier in March and from Birnin Kebbi.
The rescued children are now receiving care, including counselling, food, and medical attention. Parents searching for missing children are urged to come forward with valid proof.
Ali Adamu, a father from Kogi, was reunited with his daughter and called on parents to stay vigilant.
