Workers of Kaduna Electric have begun an indefinite strike over alleged plans to sack over 900 staff. The protest, led by the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), also highlights unpaid pensions, lack of promotions, and poor working conditions.
On Monday, workers blocked KADECO’s headquarters, accusing management of ignoring agreements. NUEE Kaduna Chairman, Sheyin Nuhu Wakili, vowed to resist the layoffs, calling them unfair and unlawful.
KADECO has yet to respond to the strike.
