Just In: President Tinubu Signs New Minimum Wage Bill into Law.

Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has signed the bill passed by the national assembly modifying the national minimum wage to ₦70,000, from the previous ₦30,000.

The bill signing ceremony happened on Monday, July 29, 2024, mid-way through the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by the president. The ceremony had in attendance, the senate president, Godswill Akpabio and other dignitaries.

The new law also includes a clause that mandates a review every three years, as against the 5 years the previous law had.

The Head of Service of the Federation, Dr. Yemi Folade-Esan, said the new law will undoubtedly reassure the workers that the president cares about their welfare.

President Tinubu thanked the National Assembly for accelerating the passage of the law.
