Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja has withdrawn from the lawsuit filed by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senate President Godswill Akpabio and others.
The suit sought to prevent the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions from proceeding with disciplinary action against Akpoti-Uduaghan over alleged misconduct. However, Justice Egwuatu recused himself after Akpabio raised concerns of bias.
Following the withdrawal, the judge directed that the case be reassigned to another judge by the Chief Judge, Justice John Tsoho.
This development comes after the court previously ruled against Natasha’s suspension by the Senate, a decision the Senate has since challenged. Legal experts warn that the ongoing legal battle could further test the limits of legislative and judicial powers.
