Five Al Jazeera journalists, including well-known correspondent Anas al-Sharif, were killed in an Israeli strike in Gaza on Sunday night.
Israel accused al-Sharif of leading a Hamas cell and carrying out attacks, but Al Jazeera rejected the claims, calling him an accredited reporter targeted for his coverage.
The network said the journalists were in a tent near a hospital, not on the front lines.
Press groups, including the CPJ, had previously warned al-Sharif was at risk due to his role as a key source of news from Gaza since the war began nearly two years ago.
