INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, says key changes to the Electoral Act will be made ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the Presidential Villa on Monday, he confirmed INEC has reviewed the 2023 elections and identified 142 recommendations—eight of which require legal amendments.
Yakubu said the commission is working closely with the National Assembly, which will soon hold a public hearing before forwarding a new bill to the president.
He also dismissed rumours of his removal, saying he remains the country’s Chief Electoral Officer.
