Ibom Air has barred a passenger, Ms Comfort Emmanson, from flying with the airline after she allegedly assaulted crew members and a fellow traveller.
The incident occurred on Sunday on a flight from Uyo to Lagos. According to the airline, Ms Emmanson refused to switch off her mobile phone before take-off despite repeated instructions. A co-passenger eventually switched it off, sparking a heated reaction from her.
Upon landing in Lagos, she allegedly attacked the purser, stepping on her, pulling off her wig and glasses, and hitting her with her footwear. She also reportedly slapped another crew member who tried to intervene and attempted to use a fire extinguisher as a weapon before being stopped by security.
Ibom Air said she further assaulted security personnel and the airline’s ground supervisor before being taken into custody by the Nigeria Police.
In a statement, the airline said her behaviour posed a serious safety risk to passengers, crew, and the aircraft. It stressed that such conduct would not be tolerated and confirmed that she is now banned from all Ibom Air flights.
