The Sokoto State Hisbah Commission has apprehended eight individuals for allegedly organizing a controversial event to crown the “best sex performers” in the state.
The event took place on Monday at Plus Centre along Maiduguri Road. Hisbah operatives, acting on intelligence, disrupted the event after two rounds of voting had reportedly taken place.
Deputy Commander of Operations, Dr. Abubakar Usman Rabah, confirmed the arrests and revealed that some suspects resisted, injuring two operatives and stoning their vehicle.
Rabah warned event centres against hosting immoral activities, adding that venues found guilty risk being shut down. A senior Hisbah officer also noted challenges with soldiers allegedly claiming affiliation with suspects in such cases.
