Gunmen Kill 3 People in Kogi Community.

At least three (3) people were reportedly killed when gunmen launched an attack on the Ajokpachi Odo community in Omala local government area of Kogi on Tuesday, barely a month after the same suspected gunmen attacked the neighboring community of Agojeju Odo, killing over twenty-seven (27) people.

The locals reported that the gunmen laid ambush on a group of youth in the area who were on surveillance mission and killed three of them, in the process.

The   caretaker committee chairman of Omala local government council, honourable Marknoble Peter Edibo, confirmed the Tuesday incident. He lamented the plight of his people in the hands of the herdsmen and Agatu militia in Benue and Nasarawa states, that shared boundary with his local government in Kogi.

A Community Leader who narrowly escaped the attack condemned it in strong terms and called on government officials to help tackle the menace. He said “this attack is one too many. Not too long ago, before the Agojeju Odo massacre, the Fulani Bandits had killed about six people in Ajadapa, a neighborhood in Benue state and took over their homes. We are perpetually living in fears and don’t know who will be the next victim.

“Both our farms, streams, and forests have been occupied by these elements who killed at will.

“We thought that with what happened at Agojeju Odo, the story would have changed by now, unfortunately, the Fulani bandits are daily having upper hands, knowing fully well that there will be no consequences of their actions.

“We don’t have arms to defend ourselves. We are begging our hardworking governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to act urgently before we are all dead.

The state police are yet to officially respond to inquiries.
