Gunmen hijacked a Benue Links state-owned bus (Reg. No. 14B‑143BN) around 6:30pm on Sunday along the Eke axis in Okpokwu LGA. The bus was returning from Abeokuta with 12 passengers and a driver when armed men attacked, robbing and abducting 11 of them. One passenger managed to escape and alert police.
Benue Links confirmed the abduction and said they are working with security agencies, including police, military, and local vigilantes, to rescue the victims. The police spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, said one passenger, Paul Terns, was found alive, and intensified search efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining hostages.
