An unspecified number of Dangote cement workers were reportedly abducted on Monday evening, after bandits attacked their staff bus and shot many.
According to reports, the workers were returning from work when they were ambushed by suspected bandits at Okpella town in Edo state.
Witnesses said it was unclear how many people were wounded or the severity as of Monday evening.
The Edo state police command, through its spokesman, Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident and said the force is already conducting a manhunt to rescue the victims.
The police spokesperson in the state said the Divisional Police Officer of Okpella Division, upon receipt of information about the incident, mobilised a team of operatives for a bush-combing exercise.
Michael odofin, a spokesperson for the cement company also confirmed the attack and abduction.
