Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted two students of federal university Wukari in Taraba state on Monday night.
The gunmen allegedly went on a shooting spree and carried and operated for almost an hour, injuring many other students with no security men on ground to check or deter them.
The gunmen in their numbers reportedly stormed a student’s hostel located outside the campus at about 10:30 pm Monday and abducted two students.
The abducted students are said to be one male and a female from Micro-biology and Economics department of the university.
Confirming the incident, the school’s public relations officer, Mrs. Adore Auwudu, said security agents and youths have been mobilized and are now on the trail of the kidnappers in the forest trying to rescue the abducted students.
The school authority is appealing to the government and stakeholders to assist in building hostels for students and staff within the school premises to avert further occurrence.
A similar case of abduction at the institution happened in 2022, which led to the shutdown of the institution to douse tension among parents, staff and students of the institution.
