Google Revises AI Guidelines, Lifts Weapons Ban

Google has updated its AI principles by removing the clause that banned the development of weapons.

In a recent blog post, senior VP James Manyika and DeepMind chief Sir Demis Hassabis explained that the change reflects rapid technological advances since the original guidelines were issued in 2018.

They emphasized that the new policy now focuses on responsible AI development with strong human oversight, due diligence, and adherence to international human rights standards.

While critics worry that the revision could blur ethical boundaries, Google maintains that its commitment to safe and beneficial AI use remains unchanged.

The company insists that the updated guidelines are designed to balance innovation with ethical safeguards in an increasingly competitive global landscape.
