The number of people killed in the recent attacks on Benue communities has risen to 72, following the discovery of 13 additional bodies.
The attacks, which struck Ukum and Logo LGAs late last week, sparked widespread outrage.
Governor Hyacinth Alia had earlier confirmed 59 deaths in his Easter address, but the governor’s media aide, Isaac Uzaan, said more bodies were later recovered from surrounding bushes — 12 in Ukum and one in Logo.
Police earlier reported 17 deaths from the same incidents.
