Over 500 houses have been destroyed by a flood following three days of heavy rainfall in Kabba, Kogi State.
The downpour caused rivers to overflow, submerging homes, places of worship, and killing over 1,500 animals. The worst-hit area is Idde-Iyah, where a traditional ruler, Chief Obahunlewo, lost his home and belongings.
Former Kogi Assembly Speaker, Matthew Kolawole, described the disaster as a humanitarian crisis and called for urgent action on flood control.
The State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) says it is aware but awaiting an official report.
