A late-night fire on Tuesday razed over 500 shops at the Terminus Market in Jos, Plateau State, with traders losing goods worth more than ₦1 billion.
The market chairman, Alhaji Mustapha Ibrahim, blamed poor fire response and ruled out an electrical fault. However, the fire service claimed their team was attacked at the scene.
The Plateau government described the incident as a huge economic loss and promised support. This is the second major fire at the market in six years.
