Finnish Court Jails Simon Ekpa for Terrorism

A Finnish court has sentenced Biafra separatist agitator, Simon Ekpa, to six years in prison for terrorism-related offences.

The Päijät-Häme District Court in Lahti found Ekpa guilty of participating in terrorism and aggravated tax fraud. Prosecutors said his activities were linked to efforts to revive a breakaway Biafra state in Nigeria, a region that briefly declared independence in the late 1960s.

According to Finnish outlet Yle, Ekpa was also accused of spreading propaganda that incited violence. The Deputy Prosecutor General charged him with public incitement to commit crimes with terrorist intent and participation in a terrorist group.

The case is part of a wider investigation by Finland’s National Bureau of Investigation, which earlier detained five suspects over alleged financing of terrorism. Four of them were later released during the probe.
