The Federal Government is calling on UAE authorities to relax visa restrictions for Nigerians, Minister Festus Keyamo announced in Dubai at the ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium 2025. Keyamo emphasized that easing the stringent visa conditions would boost passenger traffic and benefit both nations’ economies.
Speaking during the signing of an amended Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) between Nigeria and the UAE, Keyamo noted that improved visa rules would strengthen aviation ties and increase connectivity. High-ranking officials, including Capt. Chris Ona Najomo (Director General of Civil Aviation) and Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku (Managing Director of FAAN), joined him as part of the Nigerian delegation.
The symposium, hosted by H.E. Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi of the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority, brought together over 35 ministers and 1,500 aviation professionals to discuss sustainable aviation initiatives. One highlight was the launch of the Global Sustainable Aviation Marketplace, aimed at fostering innovation in the sector.
Keyamo added that these measures are part of a broader effort to modernize Nigeria’s aviation framework and attract private investment by easing travel restrictions and enhancing bilateral cooperation with the UAE.
