The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has announced plans to propose a directive to President Bola Tinubu requiring all government agencies and parastatals to accept National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members for their one-year service.
This follows the Federal Government’s recent decision to lift restrictions on corps member postings to private sector organizations such as banks and oil companies. Olawande emphasized the need to address rejection issues faced by corps members, stressing that such obstacles hinder professional development.
He reiterated the ministry’s commitment to eliminating barriers in NYSC postings, saying, “Let them post them first, and we will tackle the rejections.”
Regarding the N77,000 allowance increase for corps members, Olawande assured that implementation is underway, promising payments would commence soon. “It’s a process, and we are at the final stages,” he stated.
The Federal Government continues efforts to enhance the NYSC program and provide corps members with more diverse opportunities for professional growth.
