The federal government of Nigeria have announced a flurry of activity to mark this year’s democracy day celebration. This announcement was made by the director of information and public relations in the office of the secretary to the government of the federation, Abdulhakeem Adeoye.
Adeoye said the celebration will kick off with a symposium on Tuesday, June 11 at the state house conference centre, presidential villa, Abuja, at 9 am. This will be followed by a youth conference on the same day at the Ladi Kwali hall, Abuja continental hotel, Abuja.
A “grand parade” is planned for Wednesday, June 12, followed by a state dinner later that day.
The statement read, “The programmes lined up for the celebration include a symposium on Tuesday, June 11, at 9:00 am at the State House Conference Centre, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
“Later that day, a youth conference will be held at Ladi Kwali Hall, Abuja Continental Hotel, Abuja, at 6 pm.
“A grand parade will take place on Wednesday, June 12, at 8 am at Eagle Square, Abuja,” followed by “a dinner at the State House Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja, at 6 pm”.
Recall that democracy day was moved to June 12 to honour the acclaimed winner of the 1993 presidential election, the late Moshood Abiola.
