The Federal Government has fixed 16 years as the minimum age for admission into Nigerian universities and other tertiary institutions.

Education Minister, Dr. Tunji Alausa, announced this on Tuesday during JAMB’s 2025 policy meeting in Abuja, warning that the rule is non-negotiable.

He said institutions must also use JAMB’s CAPS platform for all admissions, stressing that any process outside it is illegal.

Heads of schools found admitting underage candidates or bypassing CAPS risk facing sanctions, he added.
