The Federal Government has announced plans to integrate 28,000 Nigerian health workers previously funded by USAID into the national healthcare system.
Health Minister Muhammad Pate said Nigeria is committed to reducing reliance on foreign aid and strengthening its healthcare workforce.
This follows a US funding pause under former President Donald Trump, which affected HIV treatment programs. However, a waiver was granted to continue care for patients.
The FEC has also approved ₦4.5 billion for HIV treatment packs to support those affected.
