The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, says revenue from Nigeria’s maritime sector has grown by 90% in one year.
Speaking in Port Harcourt during the 2025 Day of the Seafarer celebration, he said automation and port reforms are boosting income and could eventually surpass oil revenue.
He also unveiled a new Maritime Labour E-Platform to improve transparency and regulatory compliance.
NIMASA DG, Dr Dayo Mobereola, urged shipowners to align with updated global standards protecting seafarers.
