The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa has issued a two-month ultimatum to federal Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) holders to settle their outstanding ground rent or face the revocation of their property titles.
Speaking at the 29th Conference of Directors of Lands in Abuja on Wednesday, Dangiwa emphasized that many property owners have failed to pay their ground rent and other statutory fees for several years, causing the federal government to lose trillions of naira in revenue.
He stated, “Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, this non-compliance will no longer be tolerated as the revenue is crucial for the government’s developmental goals.”
The minister further warned that if C of O title holders do not settle their dues within the next 60 days, their property titles would be revoked.
