Officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Monday sealed off the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja over ground rent default.
The building, located in Wuse Zone 5, was shut down around 2:05 p.m. following an enforcement drive targeting over 4,700 properties whose owners allegedly failed to pay ground rent for up to 43 years.
Eyewitnesses said FCTA officials arrived and ordered the premises sealed before staff could respond. After brief protests, they were allowed to remove vehicles and belongings, after which the building was locked again.
FCTA had earlier announced that the affected titles—spread across Wuse, Maitama, Asokoro, Garki, Guzape, and Central Area—now revert to government ownership. Authorities said the enforcement would continue in line with existing land regulations.
