Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi says Saudi authorities blocked him from entering Medina for the 2025 Hajj despite issuing him a visa.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Gumi said Saudi officials turned him back at the airport, citing discomfort with his political views. He thanked Nigerian authorities for stepping in and said he would now focus on his health and farming.
Gumi was reportedly part of a NAHCON-sponsored delegation of scholars who arrived in Medina on Saturday aboard Umza Air. Saudi immigration officials denied him entry upon arrival.
