The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has demolished more than 1,000 illegal shanties and roadside structures in Karsana, near the Bunkoro District in Gwarimpa.
Director of Development Control, Muktar Galadima, said the clearance is part of a citywide sanitation and security exercise. He explained that the operation focused on temporary shacks and illegal occupants, while avoiding houses belonging to indigenous residents.
Galadima noted that the cleared shanties stretched across a two-kilometer section of the proposed Ring Road 3 corridor, adding that the exercise would continue until the entire stretch is free of obstructions.
The FCTA also said the Department of Resettlement would work to identify and protect genuine properties belonging to natives.
Peter Olumuji, Director of the FCTA Command and Control Unit, emphasized that the exercise links urban development with improved security, though no arrests were made during the operation.
