EU Commits €283.73m to Development in Northern Nigeria

The European Union (EU) has allocated €283.73 million for development projects in northern Nigeria, focusing on economic growth, education, security, and humanitarian efforts.

EU Ambassador to Nigeria, Gautier Mignot, announced this in Kano while launching the Study in Europe fair. He highlighted the EU’s role as Nigeria’s largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching €35 billion in 2023.

“Our focus remains on economic cooperation, job creation, and addressing trade barriers,” Mignot said, adding that the Global Gateway Initiative would prioritize renewable energy, digital transformation, agriculture, and healthcare.
