El-Rufai Accuses Ribadu of Targeting Him Over 2031 Presidential Ambition

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has alleged that the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, is orchestrating a campaign to tarnish his reputation in a bid to clear the path for his own 2031 presidential ambition.

Speaking in an interview with Arise TV on Monday, El-Rufai claimed that Ribadu is working alongside Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to damage his image.

“This entire project to destroy Nasir El-Rufai is the brainchild of Nuhu Ribadu. He designed it, and he is executing it with Uba Sani’s help. But so far, they have not succeeded,” El-Rufai said.

He further alleged that Ribadu sees him as a political threat and is determined to sideline potential northern contenders ahead of the 2031 elections.

Ribadu, a former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was the presidential candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2011.
