Nigeria’s Vice president, Mr. Kashim Shettima, has appealed to the people of the country to strive to live in peace and continue to pray for the progress of the nation.
Mr. Shettima, made the call in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, shortly after he led the Muslim community in the state including some dignitaries including the state governor Babagana Zulum, some royal fathers, and politicians to observe the Eid prayers marking the end of the Ramadan fast at the Ramat square in Maiduguri.
The vice president emphasized the need for and importance of prayers by citizens for the growth and development of the nation.
He said “Eid Mubarak to all Nigerians, let’s pray for peace, social harmony and development of our dear nation. That is our prayer and that is our best wish.”
The Borno state governor on his part, assured residents of the state that his government will continue to work to alleviate the hardship occasioned by the removal of subsidy as well as the power supply crisis being experienced in the state.
Governor Zulum made the statement during his Sallah message to indigenes and residents of the state at the government house in Maiduguri.
The governor urged residents to continue to intensify prayers for peace in Borno and Nigeria as a whole. He also appealed to the residents to pray for leaders of the country.
