Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has reportedly barricaded the Abuja residence of the immediate past governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello. This comes after the anti-graft agency have filed corruption charges against the former governor and other respondents.
The EFCC siege comes days after the former governor held a close-door meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the state house.
The house, located at Wuse 2, in Abuja, was swarmed by the operatives and captured by newsmen.
In response, a spokesperson to the former governor’s released a statement condemning the EFCC’s actions and urging President Bola Tinubu to intervene and call the agency to order.
Bello served as kogi governor for eight years from 2016 to 2024.
