The economic and financial crimes commission (EFCC) has reportedly arrested six senior officers of the Nigeria security and civil defence corps (NSCDC) over an alleged ₦6 billion-naira fraud.
The senior officers are currently being grilled by EFCC interrogators at the commission’s headquarters, Jabi, Abuja.
The arrest, reports say, is a result of an order from Ahmed Audi, the NSCDC Commandant General, who directed the handover of the officers to the EFCC for interrogation.
The chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede had previously penned a letter to the NSCDC commandant general, requesting the release of the implicated officers for questioning. Subsequently, the officers were transferred to the EFCC’s headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, where they were questioned.
Details of the inquest are thin at this moment as the spokesperson for the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, is yet to comment on the incident. Similarly, the NSCDC has not addressed the public on the reports.
