EFCC Chairman Dismisses Corrupt Staff, Vows Further Crackdown

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has disclosed the dismissal of two staff members over corruption allegations, with plans to prosecute them.

Speaking at the 6th Annual Criminal Law Review Conference in Abuja, Olukoyede emphasized his zero-tolerance approach to corruption within the agency. “You can’t fight corruption with dirty hands,” he said, adding that any staff found guilty of misconduct will face dismissal and legal action.

Olukoyede noted that the EFCC is undergoing reforms aimed at strengthening its integrity and efficiency. He encouraged Nigerians to report corrupt officials, promising justice for all cases. Drawing from personal experience, he revealed he had been under investigation for two years during his tenure as EFCC Secretary, underscoring his commitment to transparency.

The chairman stressed the need for integrity and morality in legal and anti-corruption efforts, urging Nigerians to hold themselves and the EFCC to high ethical standards. He also welcomed constructive criticism, calling for responsible engagement with institutions to strengthen national efforts against corruption.
