EFCC: Aisha Achimugu on Hunger Strike After Arrest

Businesswoman Aisha Achimugu has gone on a hunger strike following her arrest by the EFCC in Abuja.

Her lawyer, Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), said she was picked up early Tuesday at the airport after arriving from London to honour an EFCC invitation.

Achimugu was declared wanted in March over alleged money laundering. A Federal High Court had ordered her to report to the EFCC and appear before the court this week.

Ojukwu said her arrest contradicts the agreement made in court. “She’s a prisoner of conscience,” he said.

Efforts to reach the EFCC for comment were unsuccessful.
