Education Leads as Kano Gov Unveils N549 Billion Budget for 2025

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has presented the 2025 appropriation bill, worth N549 billion, to the State House of Assembly for approval.

Described as a “Budget of Hope, Human Capital, and Economic Development,” it comprises N312.6 billion for capital projects and N236.5 billion for recurrent expenditure.

Education received the largest allocation at N168.35 billion (31%), highlighting the governor’s focus on improving educational access. The health sector follows with N90.6 billion (16.5%), while infrastructure received N70.68 billion. Yusuf pledged to revive the Kano Education Development Support (KEDS) initiative under the Ministry of Education to enhance learning outcomes across the state.

The budget also earmarked N21 billion for agriculture, N15.52 billion for environment and sanitation, and nearly N4 billion for commerce and tourism.
