Edo Gets New Deputy Governor.

A few hours after the impeachment of former Edo state deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, by the State House of Assembly, 38-year-old Omobayo Godwins has been sworn in as his replacement.

The impeachment of Shaibu on Monday followed the adoption of the report of the seven-man investigative panel set up by the Assembly to probe allegations of misconduct against the former deputy governor as reported by Trust TV.

The chief judge of Edo state, Justice Daniel Okungbowa inaugurated Omobayo Godwins as the deputy governor of the state.

The 38-year-old was all smiles, as he was sworn in around 1:40 pm on Monday, April 8th.

On a day that began with the impeachment of Shaibu as the state’s deputy governor, Omobayo’s inauguration at the Edo state government house in Benin city marks a major milestone in the political history of the state.

After he took the oath of office, an excited Omobayo was greeted by a rousing crowd in one of the halls at the government house.
