The Deputy Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Maria Oligbi-Edeko, has resigned her position. She made the announcement during plenary in Benin City on Monday.
Her resignation follows the defection of several PDP members, including the Speaker, to the APC, which left the PDP in the minority.
Hon. Osamwonyi Atu (APC) was unanimously elected as the new Deputy Speaker.
The House also approved that Oligbi-Edeko receive all entitlements due her former office. Lawmakers praised her dedication and service.
