The burial of Nigerian business icon, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, has been postponed to Tuesday due to a delay in transporting his body from Abu Dhabi to Madina, Saudi Arabia.
Dantata died on Saturday in the UAE, and arrangements had been made for him to be buried in Madina, as stated in his will. However, Nigeria’s Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, told BBC Hausa that the Saudi government is still processing required documentation before the burial can proceed.
Officials from Nigeria, including Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru, Kano Governor Abba Yusuf, Jigawa Governor Umar Namadi, Emir Sanusi II, 15th Emir of Kano, Emir Aminu Ado Bayero, are already in Madina for the funeral.
Meanwhile, funeral prayers in absentia were held in Kano by the state’s Council of Ulama.
