The Nigeria Customs Service has announced the seizure of petrol, second-hand clothes, and other items worth N51.9 million over a three-week period.

The Comptroller of the Adamawa/Taraba Area Command of the service, Garba Bashir, disclosed this during a press conference on Wednesday at the command’s headquarters in Yola.

According to him, the seized items include 29,825 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, stored in 1,149 jerry cans and four 220-liter drums, which were intended to be smuggled out of the country.

He also revealed that three vehicles and a motorcycle, which were meant to convey the PMS, were seized.

Other seized items include 11 bales of second-hand clothing, eight drums, and 35 jerry cans of Methylene Chloride, also known as “Suck and Die.”

Bashir further added that the seized PMS will be auctioned to the general public immediately due to its inflammable nature, in line with standard procedures.
