The Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday adjourned the alleged terrorism trial involving former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and his son, Abdulaziz Malami, to March 10, 2026.
This followed a request by the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo, who asked the court for additional time to review the case file.
Oyedepo told the court that the matter was recently transferred from the Department of State Services (DSS) to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, explaining that the prosecution required time to properly study the details of the case.
Counsel to the defendants, Adedayo Adedeji, did not oppose the application for adjournment. However, he urged the court to strike out the case if the prosecution fails to commence trial at the next hearing, alleging that the matter had not been diligently prosecuted.
In a brief ruling, the presiding judge, Joyce Abdulmalik, granted the request and adjourned the case to March 10 for trial. The court also directed the prosecution to open its case on the adjourned date.
