An Abuja High Court has deferred ruling on the bail application of former NHIA Executive Secretary, Prof. Usman Yusuf, who is facing corruption charges.
Justice Chinyere Nwecheonwu ordered Yusuf’s remand at Kuje Correctional Facility until the bail ruling on February 27.
The EFCC accused Yusuf of misappropriating funds, awarding contracts without due process, and illegally benefiting from corporate entities linked to him and his relatives. He pleaded not guilty.
EFCC’s counsel argued against bail, citing Yusuf’s alleged failure to comply with previous conditions and fears he might abscond. However, his lawyer urged the court to grant bail, emphasizing that the charges were bailable.
