Cholera Outbreak: NCDC Activates Emergency Centre.

The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced it activated an emergency centre in response to the growing spread of cholera across the country. The announcement came as Ogun state announced infections, hospitalizations and fatality within its borders.

In a statement posted to its social media handle on X (formerly Twitter), the NCDC wrote “Following a dynamic risk assessment of the cholera epidemiological situation which placed the country at a very high risk of increased cholera transmission, we have activated the National Cholera Emergency Operations Centre (EOC),

“As of 24th June 2024, a total of 1,528 suspected cases and 53 deaths have been recorded across 31 states.”

The Ogun state government has confirmed 1 death, 25 cases and 35 suspected cases while Lagos seem to be suffering the worst of it, with at least, 25 reported dead.
