The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has addressed concerns about its staff retirement program, stating that the recently introduced Early Exit Package (EEP) is entirely voluntary and based on extensive consultations with staff union representatives.
Acting Director of Corporate Communications, Mrs. Hakama Sidi Ali, explained that the EEP, once exclusive to the executive cadre, is now available to all eligible staff. She noted that staff representatives, through the Joint Consultative Council (JCC), had advocated for this inclusion.
Mrs. Sidi Ali dismissed claims of forced retirements and emphasized that there are no negative repercussions for employees opting out of the package, adding that the management remains committed to supporting professional growth and employee well-being.
This clarification follows reports that the apex bank is offering N50 billion as settlement to 1,000 staff members under the voluntary scheme.
